PHYLLIS DODD

Phyllis Dodd is a long-time resident of Cary, North Carolina. She worked as a physical education teacher and sports massage therapist for most of her adult life. She was a competitive runner and triathlete, an avid hiker and camper.

In 2017, Phyllis was in a horrific car accident which resulted in the amputation of her right leg. Within an instant, her life completely changed. She was sure the active outdoor lifestyle that defined her was gone forever. She needed to find a new passion to focus on until that athlete reappeared.

One day her therapist asked if she ever thought about doing stand up comedy. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Phyllis began her journey into comedy. While learning how to make her audiences laugh she began her own healing with humor. Soon after her stand-up debut at Goodnights Comedy Club in Raleigh she entered the Jeanne Robertson Humor Competition and was named a finalist among hundreds of entrants. Fueled by that success, Phyllis began appearing on comedy stages and at public events.

Phyllis is a comedian, a motivational humorist, and a fierce advocate for the disabled. Her appearances can cover many bases. In addition to her captivating and entertaining stories, Phyllis loves sharing her inspirational message with groups. Phyllis can cater her presentation to meet the specific needs of every audience she appears before.
